We met in the fall of 2001 on the first day of school (Tulane University) of Jessie's freshman year and Walker's sophomore year. We had both been selected to live in one of Tulane's themed dorms, the "Urban Village." Our R.A. (resident advisor) called a meeting for our entire floor to get together to go over some of the rules and to begin to meet each other. From that moment forward, we became great friends...the whole floor did. We finally started dating that following January and have been together ever since. Sure there have been some times when we couldn't see each other very much, like the summer that Walker worked at a summer camp in the middle of nowhere and had almost no access to phones or email, or the semester that Jessie spent abroad in the south of France, but otherwise we pretty much spend most of our free time together. During college, we had lots of fun times together such as sitting in traffic for 16 hours trying to evacuate New Orleans for a hurricane just to go to Houston to sleep on the floor of my mom's vacant house amid paint fumes (we painted the house during the days while we were there). We spent a week on Martha's Vineyard one summer, and went to countless Mardi Gras parades together in NOLA. Upon graduating from Tulane in May 2005 (we both graduated the same time – Walker couldn't bear to spend a year without Jessie – so he finished out his degree with 500000 credits) we went to Europe for a month to travel anywhere and everywhere. We saw much of Western Europe, though none of it for more than a couple days per city. Following our trip, Walker moved to Louisville, Kentucky to begin working at his new job in the I.T. department of a law firm, and Jessie went back home to Andover, Massachusetts to continue the job search. Walker and Jessie missed each other very much. Fortunately for both of us, she found a job doing Human Resources for a company in Louisville, so she moved down a month or two later. Walker bought a house and Jessie has an apartment within walking distance. Jessie and Walker painted 2 rooms, fixed up the garden, and dry-walled a movie theatre, making the house very fun. After over four years, we got engaged on April 21, 2006 (be sure to read the very cute proposal story) and now we are excitedly planning the wedding!
